Child of Favor (Revised)

Fame is born on Favor's stage
And cries to those obscure:
"Why forget me as you age?
My blessing is secure!"

Some among the crowd are meek
And listen to his cry;
Some declare "We're each unique!"
But one alone: "Not I—
My name will never die."

Indignant now, the crowd disband,
Walk each their different ways;
But Name remains on stage to stand
In Fame and Favor's praise.

But fame and favor are but words,
So Name was left alone,
And, to himself, he did proclaim
"I fear I am unknown-
My Favor has gone home."
